Aesop was born a slave in 6th Century BC and is heralded as one of the great moral teachers of all time. Aesop tells three entertaining stories of animals that have human foibles and strengths: The Raven and the Swanset in Greece, The Lion and the Mouse set in Egypt and the Tortoise and the Hareset in Byzantium (now Istanbul, Turkey)
Thistle Theatre is the only performing arts organization in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in Bunraku puppets, an ancient Japanese style of puppetry. The puppeteers, dressed head-to-toe in black to suggest invisibility, operate all of the character’s limbs by hand from behind
