Kick off the center's Cider Season and enjoy an afternoon of family fun with your complimentary membership tickets! You'll love their apple sling shot, squirrel olympics, cider press demonstrations, pumpkin scavenger hunts, bake sale, bake-your-own-apples filled with sweet goodies and homemade butter, apple and honey tastings, harvest crafts, and more.
Members of the New Canaan Nature Center receive free use of seasonal "Nature Activity Packs" on the property for birding, pond exploration, scavenger hunts, bug collection, kiting and more. They also get free participation in their soil testing and evaluation programs. Members receive discounts on adult and youth & family programs and a 10% discount in the Nature Shop in the Visitor's Center and at the Stamford EMS store. Most exclusively, members get invitations to members-only events such as outdoor concerts, picnics, and Summer and Winter Solstice events. Of course, you'll also get early admission to the Fall Fair! Your whole family can benefit from this membership, and the celebration admission to go along!
The Nature Center was established in 1960 on the former estate of Miss Susan Dwight Bliss. This 40 acre site was given to the Town of New Canaan for the study of nature, horticulture and related sciences. The Town continues to own the land and buildings, and provides maintenance support. The Nature Center's wide array of innovative environmental education programs generate more than 60% of its annual revenues. The remaining is raised through membership, private donations from individuals, foundations and corporations as well as through special events.
