Activities
There are so many things to do at the Children's Museum it's impossible to know where to start to explore!
Learn about aerodynamics in the Build It, Fly It exhibit by constructing your own flying machine using colorful foam pieces. Then place your unique invention onto a 30-foot vertical, hand-powered conveyor system, crank it up through the rafters and watch as it is released to see if it flies, flutters or falls.
Become a paleontologist and start digging to unearth Triceratops fossils. Board the submarine and take a shift at the wheel, propeller or periscope. Learn about sculpture and dimension by making a three-dimensional impression of your face, hands or body with a five-foot-tall pin screen. Experiment with the Music Matrix, an interactive sound sculpture full of shapes and colors.
Try on one of the amazing array of masks from Mexico, Africa, and Japan and drum out a world beat in celebration. For the museum's youngest guests (0-3 years) there's the Primary Place, a separate, enclosed and secure environment away from the "hustle and bustle" of the big kids designed with their learning needs and physical size in mind.
The Children's Museum is New Hampshire's most visited educational and cultural institution. Founded in 1983 in Portsmouth, the Children's Museum of New Hampshire relocated to Dover in 2008. It offers a blend of art, science, and cultural experiences for families. At the heart of their mission is a commitment to offering access to all children and families by minimizing barriers that prevent fair and meaningful educational and cultural opportunities. Since its inception, the Museum has served over 2 million people from New Hampshire and beyond.
