Walk for a cause! The Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) is hosting the 13th Annual Bank of America Merrill Lynch Cinco de Mayo Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, 1K Kids’ Fun Run and Bike Tour event at the Irvine Spectrum, CA on May 1, 2011. Register on 4/1 or 4/2 and receive half off adult or child registration for the 5k Walk.
For serious runners, casual joggers and walkers, cyclists, volunteers, and spectators in Southern California, this charity run, walk, and bike event funds research that will help find a cure for children’s cancer. Highlights of the expo include food, goodies, and free giveaways. The OC Family Kids’ Fun Zone features a petting zoo, rock-climbing wall, video game truck, bounce houses galore, face painting, train rides, and much more!
Adults can stop by the beer garden for a cold beverage after the race. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment featuring local bands, mariachis, deejay, dancers, and local pro-sports mascots. PCRF’s Cinco de Mayo fiesta is one of the OC’s favorite weekend family events!
Since its establishment in 1982 as a grassroots organization, PCRF has focused its efforts to improve the care, quality of life, and survival rate of children with malignant diseases. The founders, comprising parents, physicians, and community leaders, joined forces to support laboratory research that would translate into immediate treatment for children with cancer. PCRF has raised over $25 million for pediatric cancer research. In 2010, PCRF funded $1.5 million for cancer research laboratories in Southern California and nationally.
