Uncorked opened it's doors in December 2009 with the desire to bring North Raleigh not only a new retail wine shop but a neighborhood gathering place where our customers would have the opportunity to meet new friends and old neighbors and taste, drink, and buy wines in a relaxed and non-intimidating environment. When building the concept of Uncorked, the owners spent many hours discussing what would be important to their customers. Of course selection, price, knowledgeable staff, and service are important, but beyond all of that, the one thing that really matters is that customers enjoys their experience while in the store and like the wine they take home. The owners' journey started with visiting many wine shops and wine bars, and while they were traveling they stumbled upon the concept of the tasting machine. After much research, they decided that the self-service tasting machines would be the focus of Uncorked. The concept would allow them to bring their customers the ability to taste a large number of wines for a fraction of the cost. It would also allow customers to shop for new wines without having to know anything about the wine other than whether or not they like the taste of it!
