Taste of the Himalayas, located conveniently at the intersection of  Shattuck and Virginia Street, takes you to a different world without ever leaving Berkeley. Take one step in the door and you'll be instantly transported to a place where you're greeted with a "Namaste" as you admire the pictures of Nepalese villages on the wall. 

The food itself is healthy and delicious. Choose from a variety of vegetarian, chicken, seafood or lamb dishes—all of which come with a side of rice and lentil soup. But make sure not to overlook the appetizers: the momo (or dumplings stuffed with minced meat, onion, garlic, ginger, and cilantro), were the "dish of note" in the San Francisco Chronicle’s opening review, described as offering “a burst of flavor” that tastes both “familiar and new.”
